$50 million in direct support for arts jobs through the National

theaters, and arts centers from receiving stimulus funds was removed.

Senate Cuts Arts From Economic Stimulus Bill

There still seems to be some doubt about the value of investing in art in a suffering economy. The Senate just cut arts from the ecomomic stimulus bill and we need to act now. Please read the Americans For the Arts announcement below and lets make some waves about this... many studies have been done about the economic and morale benefits of government investment in the arts. Ideas and talking points for making your voice heard are below... Thank you!

November's Collectors Club event was a huge success. Robert DeLaurentis hosted the event at his beautiful Bankers Hill house, where guests enjoyed meeting Boban, hearing him speak about his work and seeing several beautiful works of art brought in by Masterpiece Publishing for the event. Paintings by Dejardins were present as well and several guests went home with silent auction items benefiting the Academy of Fine Art Foundation.

The art of competitiveness

We are witnessing the end of the Information Age, just as our forebears
saw the close of the Industrial Age. The heralded knowledge workers of
the late-20th century – computer programmers, CPAs, engineers and MBAs
– rooted their success in linear, analytical reasoning, traditionally
considered left-brain skills. With complex, technical jobs now shifting
overseas by the tens of thousands – from financial analysis to software
development – the outsourcing megatrend has moved beyond manufacturing
into the white-collar arena with skilled workers abroad working for a
fraction of U.S-level wages.

You may not know him by name - yet - but I am quite sure you will soon. Dave Ghilarducci is a sculptor on the rise, with a quirky style that somehow makes you feel good. He was selected to be a participating artist at the prestigious Movers and Shakers exhibition at the Art Experessions Gallery in September, where artists and arts workers (think Hugh Davies of the Museum of Contemporary Art and Felicia Shaw of the San Diego Foundation) where honored for the hard work and really difference they are making in the art world.

Publicitiy is good! Yesterday morning between 7am and 9am four artists and myself were interviewed on "Good Morning San Diego". The artists, John McDavid ("Stormy Weather"), Kathryn Weiss ("Sofia"), Lia Strell ("Triflow of Truth"), and James Stone ("Tree Under the Sea") all got a few minutes each to talk about themselves and their work.
