Pimento Fine Art Presents Dani Dodge

San Diego, Calif. (July 28, 2010) Pimento Fine Art at Olive PR Solutions, Inc. is proud to announce we will feature a complete exhibition of Dani Dodge’s collection titled “Stories Without Words.” Dodge is a San Diegan who was inspired to paint by her experiences as a war correspondent in Iraq... The works chronicle her attempts to portray the struggles of everyday people through a lens tinted by life-and-death epics. The exhibition will be on display from August 12 to September 10 with a special opening reception scheduled for August 12 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Dani is deeply motivated by her drive to tell the stories of humanity. She worked as a journalist for many years and felt that she had fulfilled her need to tell stories with words. Over time it became clear to her that words were not enough, she needed something more expressive and powerful, and discovered painting. Through the use of layered ink, collage and paint she tells raw tales of loneliness, joy, pain and triumph. Dani ventures beyond objects and objectivity in search of the elusive truth of our individual and collective soul as she paints outside the lines.

 

Dani’s experience as a war correspondent in Iraq inspired her to pick up her first paint brush in 2004. Provoked by the expressiveness that painting allowed her, she studied diligently under more than a dozen artists to acquire as many new skills as possible. To Dani’s delight, her paintings gained almost instant recognition for their unique perspective. In 2009 alone, she won 15 awards including a Best of Show in the Bonita Museum’s annual fine art exhibit and a People’s Choice Award at the San Diego County Fair. She was a featured artist at the 2010 Mission Federal ArtWalk, San Diego’s biggest art event, and has been honored with an invitation to exhibit a solo show in 2012 at the San Diego Art Institute Museum of the Living Artist.
