Admissions Process
Becoming a part of the San Diego French-American School community involves 4 key steps to ensure a smooth admission process. Here’s a brief overview:
1. Inquire, Book a Private Tour or Attend Our Open House

2. Application Submission
Start by filling out the online application form available on FACTS, our application portal. This includes providing personal information about your child, previous educational history, teacher recommendations if applicable, and any special considerations. Make sure to gather any required documents, such as report cards, to submit along with the application.
3. Assessment and Interviews
Upon receipt and notification of your completed application, the Admissions Office will contact you to schedule a parent/guardian meeting and a student evaluation session. For children ages 18 months through 5, the assessment is a 45-minute play-based session with our Preschool Director. For those over the age of 5, the assessment encompasses a conversation, and an evaluation in reading, writing, and mathematics in English and French (if applicable).
4. Enrollment
If your child is accepted, you will receive an enrollment contract to complete. After submitting this contract and paying the necessary fees, you will be invited to several community events to give you an opportunity to meet teachers, learn about the school community, and prepare for the upcoming school year.
Admissions Timeline
Though we accept applications year round, below are the important dates you need to be aware of as you work with our admissions team to apply for enrollment at San Diego French-American School.
24-25 Academic Year
We accept mid-year enrollments and are happy to review your application on a case-by-case basis where spaces remain. Please inquire with our Admissions office for further questions.
Upcoming Academic Year
We welcome your inquiries for 2025–2026. Applications must be submitted by February 1, 2025.
Admissions Calendar
Admissions season for 2025–2026 begins Tuesday, October 1, 2024, when admission applications will become available.
Evaluations
Upon submission of the application, the applicants will be contacted to schedule a play-based evaluation (PK) or a language/academic skills assessment (K–8) prior to filing review and sending admission decision.
February 1, 2025
Admissions application and financial assistance application deadline.
March 7, 2025
Applicants are informed by email of the school’s admission decision.
March 21, 2025
Deadline to enroll for new accepted applicants. At this date, the enrollment agreement must be completed and submitted through FACTS with tuition deposit paid in order for the student to formally enroll and to secure a spot for the 2025–2026 school year.
March 28, 2025 and beyond
Ongoing, rolling admissions (in classes where spaces remain)
San Diego French-American School has a rolling admissions policy and accepts applications year-round, space permitting. Priority is given to candidates who meet the aforementioned deadlines. Qualified applicants may be placed in a waiting pool for classes that have reached capacity.
