Wendy’s dreams of becoming a teacher began when she was a little girl living in Mexico. Surrounded by four brothers and numerous cousins, her rambunctious childhood paved a way for her to become the nurturing and joyful educator she is today. She’s called SDFAS her second home for the past 13 years and beams with pride at seeing her previous Pre-K students grow up to be part of this year’s graduating class.
In the past year, her teaching curriculum expanded to include Hispanic Hablantes with older students. Her classes now total to 10, including Pre-K, Kindergarten, and Middle School, with each class equipped with her excellent teaching strategy of play-based learning (for her younger students) and music. She believes her role as an educator is to motivate children and encourage them to grow by providing a nurturing environment to each child. She also reflects these standards at home to her two boys, ages 3 and 10.
In her spare time, you can find Wendy tearing up the dance floor with her fierce salsa moves. She loves traveling and carries a passport full of stamps from countries all over Europe, and looks forward to adding more once she visits Bali, Thailand, St. Lucia, and Mexico in the next year or two.
